Key to important Flea Beetle species in USA
Distribution and
Host plants:
  • Introduced into North America from Eurasia before 1801, this species is now distributed across southern Canada and the northern U.S.A., southward into California (Chittenden, 1927; Brown, 1967; Beirne, 1971; Burgess, 1981). It is most common in the parkland areas across the northern edge of the prairies.
  • Host plants include cabbage, turnip, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, canola, and related vegetables (e.g., sugar beets; tomatoes; horseradish; radish; potatoes), weeds (e.g., flixweed; peppergrass; wild mustard; stinkweed; lamb's quarters), and even mosses. It has often been reported as the second most abundant flea beetle on canola in the prairies.
