Distribution:
  • Europe: all European countries (not established in England), Russian Federation (Central Russia, Eastern Siberia, Russian Far East, Southern Russia and Western Siberia)
  • Asia: Armenia, China, Georgia, Iran, Japan, Kazakstan, Kirgizia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
  • Africa: Gabon
  • Western Hemisphere: Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico and USA
Host plants:
  • Primary hosts (full lifecycle): Solanum tuberosum (potato), Solanum melongena (egg-plant); certain varieties of Lycopersicum esculentum (tomato); Hyosciamus niger L. Atropa belladonna L.
  • Secondary hosts where last instar larvae can finish their development and adults can finish their maturity feeding: Solanum dulcamara L.; Solanum nigrum L.; Datura stramonium L.
  • Secondary hosts where larvae can not survive but adults can finish their maturity feeding: Lycium sp. and Physalis sp.
  • Other hosts without detailed biological data: Nicotiana tabacum L. (cultivated tobacco), Solanum sisymbrifolium, S. subinerne, S. marginatum, S. rostratum Ramur (buffalo bur), S. carolinense, S. elaeagnifolium, S. sarachoides, S. dimidiatum, S. diversifolium, S. triquitrium, S. laciniatum
