Frederick Parkhurst Dodd
Born in Victoria, March 11, 1861. From there went ot Townsville in 1884, where he took up collecting butterflies and beetles. Ten years later he left his occupation (he had been employed in a bank for 14 years), to devote his time entirely to entomology. Five years were spent, first, near Brisbane, collecting principally Cossidae and micro-lepidoptera, then five years at Townsville, and finally he made his home at Kuranda, in 1904. Dodd was a famed naturalist and his large collection of insects attracted many visitors to his home.
